A 60-day cruise around the Australian Coast is being halted days after the death of an senior woman who was stranded by the cruise liner on a remote tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the cruise ship, but separated from the excursion for a break. The liner left without her and came back several hours later after the ship staff realised the passenger was unaccounted for.

A large-scale search operation found her remains the following day.

Officials are looking into the incident, in coordination with police and the medical examiner.
